Welcome to Rye

Jump back in time to the ancestral home to one of our countries founding fathers John Jay. Founded by three men in 1660 and originally part of Fairfield County, Connecticut, Rye has a significant and storied past. From territorial claims between the Dutch & the British to which state Rye was actually part of, to remaining “neutral territory” during the Revolutionary War.

Primarily a farming community, this village became a hub along the Boston Post Road where travelers would stop for food, drink, shelter, entertainment, news & politics. During winter months, farmers augmented their income to wheelwrights, carpenters, saddlers, tailors, hatters, weavers and rope makers. The opening of the Erie Canal and roughly 20 years later, the arrival of the railroad brought the biggest shift to Rye, from a declining agrarian culture to a summer playland for NYC’s wealthy elite. Another majestic town on the north side of Long Island Sounds “Gold Coast”.

Full of delicious restaurants and cute boutiques plus only 49 minutes, local train, or roughly 30 minutes, express train, to NYC, makes this place an ideal location. It is also right off I95, minutes from I287, I684 & the Hutchinson River Parkway. Fifteen to twenty minutes from Westchester County Airport can provide direct flights, private jets and helicopter rides to transport you wherever your heart desires. Bonus: Laguardia Airport is only 35 minutes away and JFK is about 45 minutes away.
